A team from University Grants Commission (UGC) completed their inspection of St. Joseph’s College (SJC), Jakhama on August 6. The team had come for the purpose of inspecting the college to determine the viability of granting autonomous status to the college on August 5.
A press release from SJC Jakhama stated that, the team comprised of prof. A.P. Pandey, vice chancellor, Manipur University, as chairperson, prof. Ashok Sharma, School of Chemical Sciences, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya and Dr. Swami Kamalasthananda, principal, Ramakhrishna Mission Vivekananda as members. Kuholi Chishi, director, Higher Education, Kohima, represented the state as nominee, Prof. S.K Chaturvedi, Dept. of Botany, dean, RDC, NU as university nominee and P.N. Gupta, section officer, UGC, New Delhi as coordinating officer.
Prof. Adya Prasad Pandey, vice chancellor of Manipur University, the chairperson of the team, expressed his great satisfaction at the well developed infrastructure of the college although the college was located in an interior part of the country. He expressed confidence that the college would soon become one of the leading educational institutions in North East India.
After having rounds of interactions with the student’s body, non-teaching staff and others, the team visited the many facilities in the college. The concluding part of the visit was the exit meeting held at the conference hall of the college.Pages:
