St. Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama bid farewell to its outgoing principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousepparampil who headed the college for over 5 (five) and half years, on 10th February, at 12 pm in the College Indoor Stadium. The programme was attended by Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, members of the Governing Body of the college, Catholic association of Nagaland, village elders, fathers and sisters, teaching and non-teaching staff, student leaders in the form of CRs and VCRs and special invitees.

The programme started with invocation from Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, the counsellor of the college which was followed by welcome speech delivered by Sr. Dr. Ranit, SABS, Vice-principal of the college (academic affairs). Speaking on behalf of the faculty members, Capt. Regina Razousinuo and Mr. Dihe Mao, Asst. Profs. highlighted on the achievements of the outgoing principal and said that the feats like getting the grade ‘A’ from UGC-NAAC team, ‘A++’ from the AAA team of Hr. Education, Govt. of and obtaining the Autonomous status could not have been achieved had not Fr. Sebastian Ousepparampil been there in the college as the Principal.
Speaking on the occasion which also happened to be his 75th Birthday, Fr. Dr. Sebastian said that he enjoyed working in the college despite the challenges he faced and that all the achievements made were due to team work of the members of the college. He would always carry the Josephites in his heart.
Taking the stage, His most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima thanked the fathers for their contributions. He said that he would not normally go for farewell function but since SJC (A), Jakhama is a special place, he made himself available for the programme and wished the fathers the best of life and God’s blessings.
Mention may be made that Fr. Dr. George Keduolhou Angami who has been the Vice-principal of the college for over 2 (two) years is now appointed as the new principal.It may also be appointed that there other change of heads: Fr. Benny Varghese’s place is taken over by Fr. Binoy Joseph as the new administrator. The programme was chaired by Mrs. Thejanuo Fidelia, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Commerce. The programme ended with a meal of gratitude at 3 pm.
