Jakhama, August 17 : The newly constructed Cricket Concrete Practice Pitch was inaugurated at St Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama by Advisor, Technical Education and Elections, Medo Yhokha on August 17.
In his speech, Medo Yhokha expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) for having the dreams and visions, and initiating hope and aspirations for the younger generation. He congratulated the NCA for choosing SJC (A) as one of its partners. He hoped that players from the college will be inducted to NCA in the near future.
Yhokha encouraged that gathering stating that we need to stop comparing ourselves with neighbouring people and realise that Nagas are not different from them and that we should change our perspective and narratives. He also stated that time has come for the Nagas to start scripting their own stories so that all can be proud and happy about it.
Delivering his speech, Honorary Secretary, NCA, Hyunilo Anilo Khing expressed happiness for choosing SJC (A), Jakhama as a partner for development of the game and to take it further. He said that in the present fast paced world, sports is not only a discipline, but a multi-billion industry which brings people, communities and nations together.
Though the game of cricket is not new to the people of the state, it is very young professionally, he said. Khing stressed on the need to polish, guide and help to make players come up to the national and international levels. He also said that NCA has constructed concrete practice pitches in all the districts of the state and even in some sub-divisions and some institutions which he said is the initiative of the Govt. of Nagaland giving equal importance to every sphere.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Binoy Joseph, Administrator, SJC (A) led the dedicatory prayer followed by unveiling and cutting of ribbons by the Special Guest and Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary, Nagaland Cricket Association. Introductory Note was delivered by President, Kohima District Cricket Association, Diethonguzo Miachieo.
The programme was attended by various dignitaries from NCA, Kohima District Cricket Association, village council members and chairman, students and well wishers.Pages:
