Badminton tournament held at St. Joseph’s College

The3rd annual open department badminton tournament, organised by the Badminton Club of St. Joseph’s College (SJC) (A), Jakhama was held at the College Indoor Stadium from March 15 to the 17th.

Fr. Peter Solo, dean of Science, SJC (A), Jakhama spoke words of encouragement to the participants and invoked God’s blessings for the success of the tournament at the inaugural programme, a press release informed.

53 teams participated in all the five categories — men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles — during the tournament.

Yangliba Sangtam emerged as the winner in men’s singles with Vimezo Natso as the runner-up. In men’s doubles, Vimezo Natso and Thotreiwor Shangshang won the first position, while James HK and Pameiguang emerged as the runner-up.

Imnuksungla won the women’s singles and Lituna T Sukhai clinched the second position. Vini I Yepthomi and Lituna T Sukhai emerged as the women’s doubles winner, while Wapangienla Jamir and Wangya secured the runner-up.

Yangliba Sangtam and Neivikono Seyietsu emerged as the winner in mixed doubles, while Pameiguang and Carol Kandulna secured the runner-up position.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Fr. Dr. George Pezalhoukho Rino, coordinator, PG Studies, SJC (A) congratulated the winners and all the other participants, while encouraging them to move ahead to higher levels of the game and excel in future.
